Hardware:Discrimantor Taps

From Trunker

Table of contents

Discriminator taps are required to use most of this software.

Below is a breakdown of the locations for various radios.

Uniden/Bearcat

BC780

BCT8

The BCT8 has two easily accesible points to get the discriminator audio out. Open the radio and attach to the point in the image on the BOTTOM of the radio.

Connect data line to the LND7 Data Skip TP on the bottom of the PCB, as shown here.

AOR

AOR-8200

You have two choices with the AOR 8200. The radio has a connector, the AUX connector, which provides access to the discriminator via one its pins and the OS8200 cable. Or you can use a standard tap below.

You can purchase an in-expensive HP Jordana sync cable HP Part #F1258A from EBay and then cut the connector and connect as follows:

Notice: For MKII versions and later you MUST disconnect Pin #10 on the AUX connector side of the cable BEFORE connecting the cable to the radio. Otherwise it will ground out the AGC line on Pin #10 and you will NOT RECEIVE any signal!

The AOR-8200 has a PCB point which provides a perfect spot to tap the discriminator. See the below images:

Image #1 shows the location of the PCB point to connect to for discriminator audio.

Solder a 10K resistor from this point on the PCB and the other end to a either a cable that you feed thru the case or a connector you add to you case.

The Pro-94 can be tapped as follows

When you remove the cover you will be presented with 2 boards. Remove the top board. On this bottom board there is a 22 pin connector. Pin #3 (on left 2nd one up from bottom) is the discriminator tap. Next you will need the ground. You can ground it on the screw on the shiny cover plate at the bottom left screw. This is working on my pro-94 quite well.
